if you have to look professional in a video call first thing in the morning, then you can put a scarf on over your hoodie and pajama bottoms. Then just position the camera a bit to make it look like you are dressed to their ridiculous standards.

lol, Sinema is planning a 2024 presidential run against Biden where she casts herself as a moderate between the far-right Trump and the "far-left" Biden

Portland / schools / covid

Portland Public School admins are now claiming teachers are organizing "sickouts". These are all apparently wildcat strikes.

I mean, it would be cool if that was true, but something makes me think people may actually be getting sick. πŸ€”πŸ“ˆπŸ€”

Rise & Fall of the ECW

Huh, ECW introduced a couple of lesbian characters and got censored on every network they contracted with.

There should be an anarchist wrestling federation. A lot of the US pro wrestling federations are toxic in a number of ways, but performative fights are a thing in most cultures. And ... they are fun and entertaining.

I'm gonna watch and live toot The Rise and Fall of the ECW. A 90's TV documentary about the failed pro wrestling outfit.

"Last-minute closures in Seattle Public Schools this week have prompted students to organize a sickout, threaten a strike, demand improved safety protocols and call for more transparency from the state’s largest school district." #Seattle seattletimes.com/education-lab

reflecting on my German ancestry

IDK, I watched Germany Year Zero the other night and it has me thinking about all this again πŸ˜†

reflecting on my German ancestry

but time machines don't exist and I'm alive in 2022. So, what can I take from that?

So, I've been reflecting on how the open borders, anti-fascist, hacking scene, gender fuckery, etc have all contributed to who I am as well. How I can think of my identity as not only shame and sadness, but as a challenge to manifest these area of my identity and take some responsibility to make things better.

reflecting on my German ancestry

So, I went to Berlin a few years back, and tried to learn more. I did some research into my family history and how they immigrated here after WWI.

It also makes me think how if my ancestors hadn't have become colonizers what would have happened. If I was transported to WWII time, well I would have been killed I guess.

reflecting on my German ancestry

I live in this weird space around my racial and ancestral identity. I know on one side of my family I have German ancestors on the other side my mom was adopted so I have no idea. I've been trying to embrace my German identity more. Not in some nationalist way, but in a reckoning sort of way. (this will probably be a longer thread)

yay, finally got to see my GP and go over my health stuff. My Dr told me lifestyle-wise I'm doing everything right and my health issues are not a result of anything I'm doing! I want to cry. That's so nice to hear.

I'm so tired of being blamed for my weight, blood pressure, etc. My Dr said I'm one of her patients that she has no advise for because I'm already doing it. 😌

Her only advise was not to give in to peer pressure of other 30-somethings on the playground to start smoking πŸ˜†

Unlike her conservative colleagues, Justice Elena Kagan was reluctant to substitute the court’s judgment for that of the occupational health experts at OSHA.

β€œWhy in the world would courts decide this question?” Kagan asked during oral arguments.

---

This is the question. I can't believe Kagan was the one to put it forward, but yes why are courts deciding this?

also, implementing this across the country would have also been a disaster. Employers who don't know how to set their wifi password would all of a sudden be holding onto employee medical info, and they would have little time to implement it.

The idea that OSHA can't set workplace standards and instead just enforces them is bizarre to me. Does this overturn state OSHA requirements for masks as well?

I'm curious how this ruling is going to be interpreted by lower courts for non-pandemic things. The majority statement says that OSHA can't set safety standards, but instead congress needs to do that. So, are all workplace safety measures dictated by politicians?

lol, the supreme court blocked the OSHA vaccine mandate for large employers. 🀣 🀣

Welcome to whose pandemic is it anyway!? The economic system where the public health protections are made up and voting doesn't matter.
