I can't stand KDE. I've try it once every couple of years including earlier this year, and I just have a bad time every single time. To do something I want to do always turns into clicking through 8 menus to toggle an option. (for example disabling/enabling screen timeout).

Gnome seems to just work, and completely stays out of way. Similarly i3/sway are fine for tiling wm when I want that.

I know KDE can be customized to have a workflow like the one I enjoy the most, and Gnome takes some customization as well.

But I've never been able to get KDE perfect to my liking after days of configuration, and Gnome takes me about 30 seconds to configure to perfection. With Gnome choosing my wallpaper is the longest part of getting it setup.
