I hadn't thought about it until now, but my adblocker filters out and protects me from malicious content a staggering amount more than any anti-virus software.

I generally keep up with patching, good digital security, and news about exploits and zero-days. So, even on the Windows machines I run AV on I haven't had anything but false positives in ... I honestly can't remember.

If I ever saw a process acting suspect with network traffic or resource usage I would probably just restore from a backup.

and working in IT, I do see the occasional positive detection alert where someone installed some random application from a shady website. But I wonder for the amount we pay for enterprise McAfee would we be better off just investing that into educating the staff about staying safe online?
